Ocean View

Finding that there was a good deal of overlap with the web cams I made a shift today to include a view of the ocean. Calm as a church wake right now but should be a great shot when the storms return.

I also want to note here that there has been a tremendous amount of time volunteered in the gardens. As I am not sure if those volunteers would like to be named here, I will not name them. But boy have they put in time to weed, mulch, restore, plant and water. I have been out there with them and made the Go Green runs with what has been pulled up. The car is full right now for another trip in the morning.

The Point is covered in flags for the Independence Day holiday. Even a house that is rarely opened is flying Old Glory. I have new flags flying from every pole. The Lighthouse was built by the federal government to serve mariners who set sail from our harbor and from many other harbors. It was built as an example of what might be done by a community working together and looking out for each other.

A lot of historic sites are like that. They remind us that the best of us is when we are putting the other guy first. The Cudworth Grist Mill made it possible for people to eat in the winter. The Maritime and Mossing museum was a hospital during a small pox outbreak. Lawson Tower might look like a vanity project but the water tower inside it was as useful a tool as the town had. Minot Light saved a lot of lives.

Tents are up and parties are ongoing. Rain slowed down the usual fireworks displays last night but conditions tonight are perfect. Here’s hoping no one makes a mistake that is regretted.

July means painting and that should start tomorrow on the fence and on picnic tables and a door that got dinged up by the winter wind. I will be looking for the shirt that has Essex green on it in the morning.
