Quick Hit

At last, there is a room to place back on the top of the Tower.

Monday or Tuesday this week there will be another pour of concrete to create the top deck of the tower where this room will go. Two windows of the twelve have been cladded so far and the oohs and ahhs as people press up against the fence can be heard in the house.

The main question is what is the timetable? The hope was Halloween which would give the contractor 17 more days to make this happen. I have my doubts that the needed painting and the other details surrounding the windows and the ventilation will be resolved in that window. There are big tides on tap for the weekend after next and that could complicate things if any sort of bad weather is around at the same time.

The boardwalk will be coming in by Halloween. How it will fit is an open question but stacking in the side yard is an option.

It does not appear likely that any cameras will be placed in the Tower. The Town has plans for cameras but none of those will be accessible by the public. There will be strictly public safety access. If that situation shifts I will report that here. I had hoped for the installation of a junction box that I could tap into but that seems to be off the table. I would have loved to be able to recreate the shot that looked out to Minot Light.

Check back here in a week and see what improvements have been made. I would love to see the windows back in place and access to the Tower be improved.

There are many weddings that take place on the rocks in front of the Tower. The grounds, the cottage, and the Tower are kept private. It is not possible to rent the space for a ceremony. Contact the Town Administrator’s office for more details on having an event on the revetment.
