Today marks the 18th anniversary of our appointment to this role. There are memories beyond counting that belong to this place. Stories and people and storms and laughter mark the years. We are grateful each day.
This weekend brought the Luminaria and Heritage Days back to Cedar Point.
The crowd was smaller than in the past few years. This was a good thing as we didn’t see any of the bumps and bruises that were included as guests navigated the rocks and the boardwalk in the dark. The boat parade was well organized and always makes for a good show.
A walk up into the Tower gets you this shot. The pink spot is a bounce back off the glass. The Cedar Point association in the persons of Corey Conrad and Chris Corcione organized the placement and the lighting of the jugs. The same guys went out on Saturday and picked them all up.
This looks like an owl somehow.
Saturday and Sunday we had 401 guests in the six hours we opened. Very curious guests and wonderful kids. The hours flew by.
Thanks to Beverly Westerveld and Nancy Fay for sitting with Julie and helping her keep count. There are a lot of lighthouse lovers out there and many of them shared stories of visiting other lights. The Oregon coast came up a couple of times and way back when Haley visited my sister out there and went to a light.
The flag project continues. This is the Bennington Flag and it has been replaced with a 21 star flag. Coming up is a 26 star flag and a famous speech from Daniel Webster.

My parents wanted me to tell you how much they enjoyed their visit. My dad regretted not being able to go into the lighthouse (vertigo and cancer treatments make heights a challenge). He enjoyed sitting with Julie and chatting while he waited for Bob, my mother, and myself. My mother enjoyed looking at the exhibits and liked climbing up into the tower to see the view and get some photos.
